Kiwibank KiwiSaver NZ: What Happened to Kiwi Wealth and Where Members Are Now

Updated

Kiwibank KiwiSaver no longer exists under that name. Kiwibank’s KiwiSaver scheme was run by Kiwi Wealth, which became part of Fisher Funds in November 2022; the Kiwi Wealth KiwiSaver Scheme is now the Fisher Funds KiwiSaver Plan. This page explains what happened and where former Kiwibank KiwiSaver members are now; other schemes are covered in our KiwiSaver provider reviews. Current funds, fees and performance for the plan are in the Fisher Funds KiwiSaver review.

Source: Fisher Funds, “Looking for Kiwi Wealth?” (checked 14 October 2026): “In November 2022, Kiwi Wealth became part of Fisher Funds”; “The Kiwi Wealth KiwiSaver Scheme has now moved into the Fisher Funds brand and has a new name to go with it - the Fisher Funds KiwiSaver Plan.”

If you had a Kiwibank or Kiwi Wealth KiwiSaver account, it is now held in the Fisher Funds KiwiSaver Plan. Fisher Funds has stated that for transitioning Kiwi Wealth members, fees stayed the same or lower at the point of transition; current funds and fees are in the Fisher Funds KiwiSaver review and the plan’s current Product Disclosure Statement.

Kiwibank itself no longer manages or sells KiwiSaver. It refers customers who ask about KiwiSaver to Fisher Funds under a partnership, and any other provider can be chosen independently.

Summer KiwiSaver is sometimes mistaken for the old Kiwibank scheme, but it has no connection to Kiwibank or Kiwi Wealth: see the Summer KiwiSaver review.

Kiwi Wealth’s Default Provider Status

Kiwi Wealth was one of the government-appointed default KiwiSaver providers named in the December 2021 review, and that status now sits with the renamed Fisher Funds KiwiSaver Plan. Who the current default providers are is in KiwiSaver default funds and providers.

How to Check Where Your Account Is

Log in at fisherfunds.co.nz, or check a recent statement: it should reference the Fisher Funds KiwiSaver Plan. Fisher Funds has run more than one KiwiSaver scheme with different results, so the scheme name on your statement tells you which fees and returns apply; see the Fisher Funds KiwiSaver review.

Moving From the Fisher Funds KiwiSaver Plan

Former Kiwibank members who want to leave the Plan join another scheme, and that scheme requests their balance from Fisher Funds. Switching KiwiSaver providers explains the timing and any transfer fee.

  • Disclose register: holds each fund's product disclosure statement and quarterly fund updates.
  • The provider's latest fund update: gives the fund's current fees, returns and holdings.
