Woolworths NZ Everyday Rewards: How It Works
Everyday Rewards is the loyalty programme of Woolworths NZ (formerly Countdown; the last Countdown store was rebranded to Woolworths in December 2025). It replaced Countdown’s old Onecard programme from 1 February 2024.
You earn 1 Everyday Rewards point per $1 spent at Woolworths, and every 2,000 points gives you a $15 voucher, redeemable on groceries or at BP fuel stations. That's a base return of about 0.75%, more if you use "Boost" offers on selected products. It's free to join, so it's worth scanning if you shop at Woolworths, but check that boosted products aren't cheaper elsewhere.
How It Works
- Earn: 1 point for every dollar spent at Woolworths.
- Boost: you can “boost” selected products in the app to earn extra points on them.
- Redeem: every 2,000 points converts to a $15 voucher, which you can use on groceries or at BP fuel stations.
- Join: free, through the Everyday Rewards app or a physical card.
What Are Points Worth?
At $15 per 2,000 points, each point is worth 0.75 cents, so without any Boost offers you get back about $15 for every $2,000 you spend at Woolworths (0.75%). Boost offers raise the return on the boosted items, but a Consumer NZ investigation found boosting was more likely to benefit Woolworths than the shopper, and some boosted products could be found cheaper at competing stores.
What Changed: Onecard, Flybuys and AA Smartfuel
Older guides describe stacking several programmes at the checkout. That no longer applies:
- Onecard, Countdown’s programme, was replaced by Everyday Rewards on 1 February 2024.
- AA Smartfuel ended on 31 January 2024; fuel rewards at Woolworths now come through Everyday Rewards vouchers usable at BP.
- Flybuys closed in New Zealand at the end of 2024 (earning stopped on 31 October 2024).
For Foodstuffs stores (New World, Pak’nSave and Four Square), the equivalent programme is Club+.
Is Everyday Rewards Worth It?
It costs nothing to join and the base return (about 0.75%) is automatic if you scan. The bigger savings, though, come from shopping where prices are lowest and from specials, not from the points: don’t let a Boost offer steer you to a product that’s cheaper at another supermarket.
