AA Smartfuel Has Ended
AA Smartfuel, the fuel-discount programme run by the Automobile Association, ended on 31 January 2024 after 12 years. It closed after Countdown (now Woolworths) ended its partnership with the scheme.

What Happened
Countdown announced in 2023 that it was ending its AA Smartfuel partnership and replacing its Onecard with a new programme (Everyday Rewards, launched 1 February 2024). AA Smartfuel then closed: “any AA Smartfuel discounts earned in the month of January 2024 will need to be redeemed by 31 January 2024,” it said.
Fuel Discounts Now
- Club+ (New World, Pak’nSave, Four Square): score a fuel discount every time you shop (on qualifying purchases); the card scans at Z and Caltex.
- Everyday Rewards (Woolworths): every 2,000 points gives a $15 voucher, redeemable on groceries or at BP fuel stations.
- Fuel prices themselves move weekly; comparing stations usually saves more than any single discount.
